John Flanagan - Kamehameha Swim Club Head Coach/Masters
John has coached continuously after his graduation from Auburn University where he was a member of the NCAA National Championship Swim Team in 1997 and a 4 year National Team member. John’s is a distance freestyle specialist where his swimming career continued to excel after college by winning the 10K National Open Water Championship in 2001. John’s international fame came from a gold medal in the 1998 World Championships and the 1999 Pan Pacific Championships. Additionally here in Hawaii, he captured the title in the Waikiki Roughwater Swim in 2001, 2002.

John combines his coaching strengths with his brother Kevin, as they share the Head Coach responsibilities at the Kamehameha Swim Team Age-Group program. Their successful State Championship Team in 2003 numbers over 100 swimmers. John and his brother Kevin split their time between The Kamehameha Schools in Kapalama and here at the Oahu Club where the club uses both pools for training. John’s ability to share his experience with all swimmers is a great asset to the swimming community.

Kevin Flanagan - Kamehameha Swim Club Head Coach
Kevin’s swimming career was highlighted by attaining the ranks of All-American at Florida State University three times, as well as being an Atlantic Coast Conference record holder. Kevin competed in the 2000 Olympic Trials.

Kevin combines his strengths with his brother John as Co-Head Coach of the Kamehameha Swim Club, which are 2003 State Champions. Kevin’s positive energy at the pool is powerful and effective.

Shari Smart - Kamehameha Swim Club Silver/Water Polo
• 2nd Generation coach at The Oahu Club (Mom taught swimming here)
• Coaching here since 1978
• Learned to swim here
• Developed and has been coaching the Jr. Water Polo Program here since 1994
• Former UH Wahaine Water Polo Team
• Played Varsity Water Polo at U California Santa Barbra
• Played Water Polo on the Jr./ Sr. US National team for 10+yars

Joe Lileikis - Masters Swimming
Joe brings 20 years of coaching experience to The Oahu Club. He is an outstanding athlete, a four year record setting, national caliber All-American swimmer during his career at the University of Hawaii from 1981-1985. Additionally, he was a two time winner of the Waikiki Roughwater Swim. Joe’s arrival at the Oahu Club comes after a fantastic coaching tenure with the University of Hawaii Masters where he coached for almost 16 years. His swimmers participated in local, national, and international events, and most recently in Hawaii’s United States Masters Short Course National Championship Title in 2001.

His dedication to helping swimmers is impressive as he enjoys working with swimmers of all ability levels from the beginning, intermediate, and advanced swimmers by improving their stroke mechanics skills and conditioning, to guiding international record setting masters swimmers and triathletes. Joe’s innovative workouts and motivation techniques contribute greatly to the swimming community.
